The Sea Rover
Founded by visionary yacht owner, Scott Blum, and led by award-winning naval designer, Bernd Weel, Dutch Design is ushering in a new era of yachting by introducing their first project: The Sea Rover.
The Sea Rover-Born out of Blum’s desire to create the world’s only wellness-first yacht after noticing there was nothing like it on the market, the Sea Rover represents the culmination of decades of personal yachting experience and a passion for mindfulness. The limited-edition yacht, of which just ten will be produced, is a solid steel and aluminum, 42.5-meter vessel that challenges traditional yachting design by offering the grandeur of a 300-foot mega yacht in a far more compact 140-foot size. The California-inspired, minimalist interior evokes tranquility and understated elegance with one clear intention: living well at sea. A personalized, over water oasis that is reminiscent of some of the world’s greatest on-land wellness retreats, this project is laser focused on the owner/guest experience, with notable features such as:
- State of the Art Facilities: Including an expansive spa designed for relaxation and rejuvenation, premium fully equipped gym that sits on the bridge deck in natural light, as well as an adaptable sport court for various activities including pickleball and basketball.
- Opulent Suites: An owner’s cabin forward of the main deck with large glass panels offering unparalleled views, as well as one of the largest closet areas in the industry and separate bathing space including a Japanese onsen-style tub and steam room. The four additional guest cabins contain the same designer finishes that can be found throughout the entirety of the vessel, as well as ample storage space and direct access to the aft beach club.
- Expansive Beach Club: The beach club boats 270-degree views and features dining tables, a wet bar, sunbeds, and a dedicated space for sea toys. The foldable platforms on each side of the vessel allow for a swimming platform that spans the stern of the yacht.
- Culinary Experience: A grand room with large glass panels merges the dining and entertaining space, offering an open concept that tastefully encourages interaction between chef, crew and guests. The culinary offering is rooted in wellbeing and offers unique dishes that are crafted to support a healthy lifestyle.
- Unique Design Elements: Beyond the highly curated interiors and refined craftsmanship, a first of its kind central staircase known as the Sky View Stairwell runs from the top deck to the ground floor and allows for natural light to flow through the entire ship.
- The Engine, Exposed: The engine room, lit with LED lights to show off high-end components, features a unique glass hallway for guests to use as passage from guest rooms to the beach club to view the impressive technical heart of the vessel, rather than being hidden below deck.
Drawing on the principles of modern Dutch design, the yacht is built to support an active, adventure-driven lifestyle without compromising luxury. In an effort to personalize the ownership experience, clients are invited to join Dutch Design at their headquarters in Amsterdam to work closely with the design team to tailor certain elements of their Sea Rover vessel.
