SERGIO CUTOLO: A NEW PROJECT FOR A 57 M EXPLORER YACHT

Hydro Tec’s Sergio Cutolo, a 57 m Explorer YachtSERGIO CUTOLO: A NEW PROJECT FOR A 57 M EXPLORER YACHT

The Italian Hydro Tec, relying on its founder Sergio Cutolo extensive experience in explorer yacht design, presents to the market its very new concept design for a 57 m Explorer; the whole project has been developed with the aim to optimize the spaces onboard to obtain the maximum comfort. The designer made preliminary sketches to a brief, adding to the project several solutions that will allow a smarter and more complete use of the onboard spaces, making it possible for the yacht to be equipped with a range of facilities that are usually more common to larger vessels. A touch and go helicopter pad can thus be found on the boat, as well as tender slightly bigger than usual; it is exactly the solution founded for the tender storage that contribute mainly to the increased space availability onboard. Storing tenders on either side of the main deck, frees up the aft part of the boat, so this could become easily a beach club, a sauna area or it could also be the garage for additional toys: there is indeed the possibility to set up an area dedicated to the storage for a small Triton submarine. Besides the challenge to create on a relatively small platform a real ocean going vessel, the Yacht was also wanted to be suitable for exploration in cold as well as hot climate: this explains why, in one of the various layout proposals all the Yacht’s spaces has been made accessible without the need, for guests, to go through the external areas. The aft area, for instance, could be accessed through a corridor located on the lower deck, that goes through the engine room space: a very good solution for extreme climates. The owner will be provided with a Yacht that could be ideal for permanent living, both comfortable and safe in every weather. The layout plan offers the guest four double cabin, plus a Vip cabin, while a full deck is entirely dedicated to the Owner, with a huge cabin looking forward through big windows and with a huge terrace overlooking the bow area. Other details that enriches the projects are a luxurious sky lounge, a generous aft deck with a spa pool on the upper deck. A huge space is given to the crew area, which has been designed in compliance with the latest Regulations, and which include a generous under lower deck where all the storage and refrigerated compartments are located. Equipped by twin MTU 12V 4000 M 63 coupled to conventional shaft lines, the Explorer 57 has a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 15. With a fuel tank capacity of 129.000 Lt the range is 3000 miles at 15 knots, or 5500 miles at 13 knots. Maneuvering will be implemented by a bow thruster and the vessel will be equipped by four zero speed electric stabilizers. The project also consider the possibility to equip the vessel with diesel electric or hybrid propulsion systems.
