EPHYRA
After the Olympic Games, EPHYRA Officialises Its Establishment in Marseille
Following a successful demonstration at the Olympic Games, EPHYRA is officially launching its first sustainable leisure boating model “boat + hydrogen station” in Marseille.
EPHYRA -After winning the Call for Expression of Interest (CEI) launched by the Port of ‘Anse de la Réserve’ in Marseille to promote eco-friendly leisure boating, EPHYRA installed its innovative solution in July 2024.
This solution includes a zero-emission electro-hydrogen-powered boat and, most notably, its own
hydrogen refuelling station—a world first in a marina.
A Successful Demonstration at the Olympic Games
EPHYRA’s innovative solution was selected by the International Olympic Committee and the PARIS
2024 Organising Committee to transport official delegations and protocol guests during the recent
Olympic sailing events in Marseille.
With 13 days of intensive operation, 75 sea outings, and over 350 personalities transported on its
hydrogen-fuelled boat, refuelled on-site at its own station, EPHYRA demonstrated a unique, new sailing
experience: more environmentally friendly, without odour, vibration, CO2 emissions, harmful particles,
or noise pollution.
The experience, which was both highly challenging and confidential due to the Olympic security
requirements, has now proved itself to be a success, allowing EPHYRA to take a new step forward in its
industrial and commercial development.
A Showcase for the Development of EPHYRA’s Solution
With the short-term goal of selecting key Mediterranean destinations and developing its business model
through franchise partnerships with leading local players, EPHYRA is currently finalizing new
technological and industrial partnerships. It is also considering bringing in investors committed to energy
and environmental transition.
EPHYRA is continuing its R&D program to develop various types of stations, tailored to the needs of
commercial boating professionals and the regulatory constraints of marinas.
With modular stations for 1 to 4 boats, with or without on-site green hydrogen production, adaptable to
seasonality and specific uses (such as for temporary events, etc.), EPHYRA will be able to meet the
unique needs of each destination.
Finally, the launch of its new EPHYRA TYPE 48 boat range—offering even greater efficiency, autonomy,
and design—manufactured in France at its shipyard in La Ciotat, is scheduled for 2025.
After Marseille, Saint-Tropez, and…?
After also winning the Call for Expression of Interest (CEI) launched by the Community of Communes of
the Gulf of Saint-Tropez in January 2024, EPHYRA (in partnership with Hynamics-EDF Group, a major
player in decarbonization) was selected to develop hydrogen production and distribution for maritime
mobility there.
After Marseille, Saint-Tropez represents a strategic destination for international outreach. EPHYRA’s
innovative solution is also being discussed for implementation in other renowned eco-friendly marinas
and destinations.
