Boating season starts in February at Messukeskus Helsinki
The Helsinki International Boat Show, Vene 15 Båt, is held at Messukeskus Helsinki 6-15 February 2015. It is the largest boating event in northern Europe presenting the latest boats, boating products and services. A Rapala 3D fish tank, Uusi Aalto Waterexpo and the Sailboat Harbour Stage (Purjehdussatama) entertain thousands of visitors at the event. The programme also includes various seminars and info sessions.
Vene 15 Båt is the year’s most important boating event in northern Europe and an early start to the upcoming boating season. The event lasts for ten days occupying the entire Messukeskus Helsinki. Hundreds of exhibitors are there to show their latest products and services, boats, equipment and gear for boating, and much more. In 2014 the event’s 383 exhibiting companies occupied 25,000 m² exhibition space and attracted 69,000 visitors. In 2015 the event is estimated to reach at least similar measures.

Award winning boats on display
Every year a jury consisting of boating experts elects the best sailing boat, open motorboat, day cruiser and cabin cruiser. The finalists are announced on the opening day of the event and the winners are declared on Wednesday 11 February. The aim of the awards is to promote the boating industry and give recognition to the companies for their efforts in R&D.
The Boating Product of the Year, The Guest Harbour of the Year and The Boating Achievement of the Year are also announced at the fair.
New Experiences provided by Uusi Aalto Waterexpo and Rapala 3D Fish Tank
Uusi Aalto Waterexpo showcases products and services for water sports and marine life. In addition to shows and demos, it gives visitors the opportunity to try out different water sports and water sport equipment in a 26 meter pool. A beach area is built around the pool in which visitors can enjoy refreshing drinks as they check out the shows.
Lure fishing is highlighted this year. A giant Rapala 3D fish tank is brought to the event and acknowledged fishermen show their skills in lure fishing on the spot.
Sailing stories and travel tips
On the Sailboat Harbour Stage (Purjehdussatama) visitors get a unique opportunity to hear sailing stories from adventurers around the world. The experts will also give tips on what preparations to make before trips as long sea voyages require careful planning. Different travel destinations are also introduced at the fair and the Classic Symposium is organised on 7 February together with a wreck diving seminar.
