Benetti has the pleasure to introduce LUCA DINI – along with Stefano Ricci fashion – as part of 16 yacht designers of BENETTI Design_Innovation Project 2012

With these two concepts dedicated to the Benetti Design Innovation project I had, for the first time, the opportunity to work with Benetti. I think this wonderful chance came for me at the right moment: Benetti has 140 years of story and so you can’t “deal” with it if you don’t have gained a long-standing experience in your life. So, after 20 years of career and about 60 boats built, I approached these projects with a great respect for Benetti and what it represents, with the awareness however that I could say something new, projected into the future.
Following the proposal received from Benetti I decided to carry on two concepts: a 55 and 72 meters.
For the 55 we choose the glass as main element: the structure appears as a decorative wrap around the glass. In addition, forasmuch as the environmental sustainability and the energy saving are now fundamental themes, we have inserted some photovoltaic panels on the roof of the wheelhouse in order to provide a good percentage of the energy the boat needs.
Glass plays a leading role even in the aft deck where a large window, whose shape reminds the porthole cabins, gives birth to a gym. The look of the boat, deliberately very “male” with many edges and corners, is further enhanced by a vertical bow.
For 72 meters instead we took as starting point the typical external superstructure lines of Benetti. Around this stylistic feature we developed the design of the boat. The innovative stern includes two decks and can be closed for privacy through an electrically aluminium venetian blind.
Drawing inspiration from the skyscrapers where the glass is used to rejects heat and the glass embedded terraces are retractable, we designed the full height glass side. The overall look of the boat is powerful and sporty with sinuous and soft lines.
