100′ AND MANY MORE
THE PRESENTATION OF THE LATEST OTAM YACHT DURING THE MONACO YACHT SHOW.
OTAM, the historical shipyard based in Genova known for its unique style sport boats chooses the Monaco Yacht Show to present the world premiere of his new 100-carat gem. Millennium 100. The main character of the show will be the OTAM 100′ project, natural evolution of the famous 80′ and before that of the everlasting 58 ‘, the model that made the recent history of the brand. Designed by a team of architects, Tagliavini for the hulls, Mancini for the exterior and Salvagni for the interiors, in close cooperation with the technical and design department of the shipyard, the yacht, more than 30 meters long, represents the best features of the Ligurian brand : design, unique sporting spirit, style, Made in Italy and of course the sea.The lines are soft and essential, typical of an OTAM, with the well-known hull that ensures unparalleled seaworthiness. In this regard,Umberto Tagliavini says: “The hull is designed to ensure, as for the younger sisters, high speed also in rough seas and allows for those on board a great comfort perception. We drew a Monohedric hull with very sharp bow corners. The engines can either be two or three 2600hp MTU, respectively, for speeds of 45 and 53 knots. The structure is made of Kevlar composite with the infusion system for considerable savings in weight and in environmental impact, both in construction and in navigation .The plant will be carefully set it up and despite the high speed and performance, there will be a special focus on environmental aspects, particularly on noise. The unit will be classified according to the most important Classification Societies as a Charter Ship.”One of the innovation of this model is the forward lounge integrated into the superstructure but, many more are the novelties of this Yacht and in this regard Alberto Mancini says: “The air intakes of the engines that have a very important function in this type of yacht are well integrated in the streamlined design of the yacht, with an aggressive and elegant result. The interior communicates with the exterior and extends into the cockpit, allowing the owner to have onboard several guests without any discomfort. The cockpit can also be customizable with 2 different layouts: alarge “U” sofa or a more traditional central sun pad. ” More then 50knots with greatest comfort is the value added of the new OTAM Millennium 100’. While maintaining the philosophy of the brand, this model shows many new features also in the interior layout, the architect Achille Salvagni remarks: For a fast boat like the OTAM Millennium 100, with extraordinary performances, I thought about an interior that could be “felt” and would be different from nowadays taste. An interior to be developed with elegance and discretion through essential lines and luxurious materials . Luxury and comfort but with moderation. The warm neutral tones are highlighted by sharp profiles and by intensely coloured, but never cold, accessories and fabrics.
I see OTAM as a representation of a state of living that gathers technology and good taste. Neat and essential lines, elegant finishes and a modern style are the characteristics of this exclusive model able to seduce the most demanding owners. A perfect blend of elegance and innovation: the best finishes and technologies applied to a modern design. The plant, machinery and accessories will come from the major brands in the industry with particular custom parts for accessories such as ladders and gangways. All the electrical parts will be properly oriented to reduce consumption, LED lighting and last generation tools. The Millennium 100′ is also characterized by an incomparable interior space, designed to better meet the owner needs. Enthusiastic, Gianfranco Zanoni, CEO of the shipyard, comments on the process that led to the conception of this new model:
“It as been very stimulating assisting in the design and in the planning of the new OTAM Millennium 100′. Having in mind the main characteristics of two important models, such as the 58′ and 65′, the two open yachts that made OTAM famous in the world, we focused on the exploitation of the spaces and of the volumes, presenting a natural evolution of OTAM’s yachts.”
