Y7 AT SALONE NAUTICO
The German shipyard showcases a Y7 at the Salone Nautico in Genoa (22 – 27 september).
Y7 AT SALONE NAUTICO – After a successful Cannes Yachting Festival the YYachts team looks forward to the Italian fair. The upcoming edition of the Genoa Boat Show will bring together all aspects of yachting. Among the numerous sailing yachts on display will also be an elegant Y7 from the German shipyard YYachts. Y Yachts will be present at booth C105 with the yacht directly in front. The owner of the newly delivered Y7 comes from the US. He sets off on very long cruises with his family and, as a world-renowned designer, gave the shipyard valuable input.
The interior of this particular Y7 in Genoa was designed by him and the design team of YYachts – together they gave the yacht a reduced design, some elegant and maritime details and just a few colour tones.
An owner’s cabin in the bow area and two cabins aft of the saloon accommodate a total of six guests; the crew of two sleep in another cabin in the stern. The layout can of course be adapted for a new build Y7.
Commenting about his favorite spot on board, the owner says: „The saloon is very large and cosy at the same time – an ideal space for our family of four. We had a sofa installed there with an extra-large reclining area and also a nice workstation, especially for homeschooling but also for me when I need it. Upstairs, on deck, I really like the cockpit.”The aim in developing the Y7 was to combine comfortable sailing behaviour with competitive sailing performance, also on the regatta course. This was achieved by consistently reducing the weight of the yacht during construction and the expertise of Y Yachts founder Michael Schmidt and Bill Tripp, one of the world’s best naval architects when it comes to saling yachts above 20 metres.
The helmsman can operate Y7 alone at any time – not a matter of course for a 70-foot yacht. With a weight of around 29.5 tons and a sail area of almost 300 square meters at wind, Y7 has sufficient propulsion even in light winds and offers corresponding sailing fun.”With our slogan to offer good and on the substantial reduced sail yachts, we buck fully the trend“, says Dirk Zademack, Managing Director of YYachts. “We attract owners who are ecologically sensitive. And there will be more and more of them in the future”.
