Panerai British Classic Week British Classic Yacht Club – Cowes 16th – 23rd July 2011
2011 sees the BCYC celebrating its tenth regatta in Cowes and with a new year comes a new name – the regatta will now be called Panerai British Classic Week. This will be the second year that the regatta is part of thePanerai Classic Yachts Challenge.
60 yachts attended the regatta in 2010 and with entries from around the UK plus France, Ireland, Jersey and Belgium, it really had an international feel. We anticipate similar numbers in 2011. The racing schedule in 2011 will now include a race around the Island on the first Sunday and will be called the ‘Panerai Classic Around the Island Race’.
The race will not be part of the event series and will also be open to entries from classic yachts not competing in the main regatta. Racing starts in earnest for regatta entrants on Monday 18th July with five races throughout the week, plus a Challenge Day on the Wednesday when any boat can challenge any boat larger than itself.
For those boats who would like to be part of the regatta but not inclined towards racing, can join the Rally Division for a week of relaxing with like-minded classic yacht enthusiasts or even venture out on ‘Sail in Company’ trips.
After a week of exciting racing and relaxing socials all the yachts come together for a Parade of Sail past the Royal Yacht Squadron. The Entry Form will be available early April, so if you are not already on the mailing list. please contact usto ensure you are kept up to date with all the news. Berthon will once again be providing their superb colour magazine for the regatta so early entry into the regatta is essential if you want to be included.
