Vallivero’s Audi Turnover Crowned In Torbole

Day 2Torbole, Italy – After a not so brilliant start to the 2013 Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series season, Renato Vallivero’s Audi Turnover has won Torbole. Hosted by Circolo Vela Torbole, Vallivero and his team comprised of tactician Enrico Fonda and Marco Perazzo took advantage of the permanent Ora wind to gain the podium.

Vallivero won the event by a six point margin over Portoferraio Champion Alessandro Rombelli’s STIG. Eight points further back, overnight leader Achille Onorato aboard Mascalzone Latino, Jr. finished in third. Completing the top five results is American Michael Kiss on Bacio, and Dario Levi’s Fremito D’Arja.

In the overall Audi Sailing Series Ranking, Guido Miani’s Out of Reach has been de-throned from his leadership position. After a very exciting Torbole, Rombelli now leads after twenty-one races with an 11-point gap over second place Onorato. Miani has fallen back to third, Francesco Farneti’s ITA-157 is fourth and Giancarlo Capolino on Legionario is now fifth.
