The Yamarin 81 Day Cruiser is the day cruiser of the 2016 boat show
The Yamarin 81 Day Cruiser has been selected as the day cruiser of the Helsinki International Boat Show 2016. The most outstanding boats of the show are chosen each year. The categories are: open motorboat, day cruiser, cabin cruiser and sailboat of the fair.
The other finalists in the day cruiser category were the Jeanneau Merry Fisher 795 Cruiser and the Nordkapp Noblesse 605. Novelty value is a key criterion when choosing the boat of the show. Account is also taken of design, ideas
on construction and use of space, the functionality of space and ergonomics, the price‐quality impression, and suitability for the intended purpose.
The award was accepted by Peter Krusberg, Product Development and Production Manager at Yamarin and Kari Rautanen, Line Director of Recreational Vehicles at Konekesko. “We challenged ourselves to renew our popular Yamarin DC‐range, taking the technology to a new level and
achieving a unique design while preserving the DNA of this hit concept. We put together a top network of Nordic expertise in order to meet this challenge. The 81DC is a wonderful illustration of just what we were aiming to achieve,” says Kari Rautanen.
The Yamarin 81 Day Cruiser represents a new generation in the Yamarin DC range. This premium‐class Day Cruiser was designed by the Norwegian Eker Design, one of Scandinavia’s leading design enterprises. Its patented underwater hull technology was designed by the Swedish Petestep®.
The design and engineering teams of Eker Design, Petestep® and Yamarin joined forces to develop this innovative, unique boat which is based on a new, futuristic design and technology. In addition to its modern appearance and state‐of‐the‐art technology, the boat’s design criteria included a slogan: “No design without functionality”. The boats of the fair are selected from the new models on display. The finalists are chosen in advance by a panel of boat journalists. From the finalists, the boats of the show are chosen by a panel consisting of Max
Johansson of Trafi; Juhani Pappila of VTT; Jan Sjölund, editor‐in‐chief of the magazine Venemestari; Ari Inkinen, editor of the magazine Vene; Ralf Juslin, editor‐in‐chief of the magazine Frisk Bris and Karel Kakko, a columnist with the magazine Kippari. In recent years, we have focused on the Yamarin and Yamarin Cross product ranges by introducing at least three new models a year. For the 2016 season, we have introduced two aluminium Yamarin Cross boats,
the 46 SC and 54 BR, in addition to the 81 Day Cruiser. Based on successful product development, the reliable Yamaha outboard engine and an unbeatable dealer network, Yamarin has achieved market leadership in its category in Norway and strengthened its position in Finland and Sweden.
