The Season 2014 starts with the award of 4 BLUE STARS for Marina Kühlungsborn

Marina KühlungsbornMarina Kühlungsborn started the watersport season 2014 with 4 BLUE STARS. It has undergone an extensive examination by the INTERNATIONAL MARINE CERTIFICATION INSTITUTE (IMCI) last autumn.
Now, Kühlungsborn Marina meets all criteria for a 4‐BLUE STAR certification.
Tourist‐Services Kühlungsborn GmbH (TSK), the operators of the port, made several investments and improvements in order to adapt the Marina to international standards regarding security and service.
The water‐side harbour got a backlit name tag, the Jetty system was equipped with additional rescue ladders, numerous display cases were newly installed and the contents they display were also adapted to international standards.
In order to achieve the highest award of a Fifth Star, Kühlungsborn Marina will require a local boat supplier and service company, as well as the installation of a family shower.
“We are working on the other criteria.” says Managing Director Ulrich Langer. The Four Star Award is valid for three years. In 2017, a review will be carried out by an Inspector from the Institute. The certification of the Kühlungsborn Marina was implemented by Marina Verbund Ostsee (MVO). Since 2012, MVO and IMCI have cooperated with the aim to establish a standard certification of all 20 member marinas in Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Poland.

The IMCI BLUE STAR MARINA certification is a transparent system for the representation of the quality level of marinas, tested by the INTERNATIONAL MARINE CERTIFICATION INSTITUTE (IMCI) as an independent third party.
The quality standard of a certified Marina can be easily seen by award from 1 to 5 Stars. Evaluated according to an internationally valid scheme as well as characterized by it, the certified ports meet the quality expectations.
