The Round Martinique Regatta
Crédit Mutuel Antilles-Guyane comes on board for The Round Martinique Regatta 2019
The Round Martinique Regatta and loyal supporters welcome Crédit Mutuel as the event title partner. The sponsorship contract is for the next two editions and will help ensure the continued success of the Caribbean sailing event.
Crédit Mutuel has been involved in the race through its association with the Ven Dan Vwèl 972 team, which it has supported since 2011. The building society now steps up its involvement to become title partner of The Round Martinique Race.
“For us as a building society, sailing is a real tool for sharing and The Round Martinique Regatta is the ideal example of this. We wanted to continue our commitment to the Ven Dan Vwèl 972 association, knowing the potential such a sailing event can have on both a human and financial scale. Crédit Mutuel Antilles Guyanes’s involvement is also in line with the new partnership that has been signed with the sailor Ian Lipinski who will carry the bank’s colours on some of the major sailing races including the Transat Jacques Vabre and the Transat Quebec Saint-Malo. We also hope that both traditional sailing, which remains very present in Martinique, and modern sailing can be a means through which to share the experience and encourage young sailors. We want to convey the healthy image of sailing in Martinique as our message,” explains Samuel Vetral, Commercial Director of Crédit Mutuel Antilles Guyane.
Crédit Mutuel joins the race’s long standing partners including the Territorial Collective of Martinique (CTM) and the Martinique Tourism Board (CMT), the Société Anonyme de la Raffinerie des Antilles (SARA) and the island of Martinique, who have all been involved since 2014 to make the sailing event pivotal in the West Indies. The City of Fort de France and CACEM (Central Agglomeration Community of Martinique), the FFV and the Martinique’s sailing league (Ligue de Voile de la Martinique) provide valuable support to the organisers, the Yacht Club of Martinique (YCM), Le Club Nautique Neptune, Club Nautique du Marin and the associations Ven Dan Vwèl 972and Open The Barre.
From Rhum to Martinique
Having raced across the Atlantic on the Route du Rhum, many skippers have chosen to stay in the Caribbean and have signed up to the Round Martinique Regatta for this 2019 racing season. Bertrand de Broc, Rodolphe Sepho and Marc Emig are among some of the registered. Jean Pierre Dick is also considering racing in the sublime crystal waters of Martinique. Many crews from the neighbouring islands of Grenada, Barbados, Saint Lucia and Antigua are set to join the professional sailors. The Round Martinique Regatta, which takes place in early February, truly combines all aspects of racing and fun social activities for the 100 or so sailors that take part.
