The Perini Navi Group Award has been assigned within the graduation awards held during the Comitato Leonardo
Two scholarships have been granted to students in the Engineering
and Architecture Departments of the Università degli Studi di Genova
The Perini Navi Group, world leader in the design and construction of large
motor and sailing yachts, has assigned their Perini Navi Group Award for the
sixth time. The prize was awarded during the Premi Leonardo 2013
ceremony held at the Quirinale in the presence of Giorgio Napoletano,
President of the Italian Republic. Fabio Perini himself won a Premio
Leonardo in 2007.
The Perini Navi Group Award consists of two scholarships worth 3,000 euro each that are awarded to two graduate theses done by the students of theEngineering and Architecture Departments of the Università degli Studi di Genova.
This year two theses, one by students from the Yacht, Naval and Nautical Design Department and one by students from the Nautical Engineering Department, presented the best projects and won the scholarships for a“Project for a Slow Cruising motor yacht larger than 40m LOA with electric propulsion systems at zero emissions and innovative ergonomic solutions for comfortable onboard living.”
Both theses were done by groups of students who showed themselves to
have analysed the data provided carefully and to have used that data wisely to create original and technically well documented projects. Their capacity to use technology for calculations, drawings and renderings along with careful and attentive research on alternative propulsion systems impressed the jury.
The students showed themselves to be experts in technique, to have an
original stylistic approach and to have done their research scrupulously.
The Comitato Leonardo, currently headed by Luisa Todini, was founded in 1993 on a shared initiative on the parts of the senators Sergio Pininfarina and Gianni Agnelli, Confindustria, ICE and a group of entrepreneurs. Their objective was to promote Italy as a whole through a series of initiatives that would put distinctly Italian qualities of entrepreneurship, artistic creativity and cultural refinement in their best light, a light that is reflected in Italian products and lifestyle.
