Record participation in the CNB Day Sail 2016

CNB Day Sail_ Yachting PleasureAs happens in autumn every year, Saint-Tropez hosted the unmissable international event for sailing enthusiasts, Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, which took place in the small Mediterranean port from September 24 to October 2.

Of course, CNB yachts were present, both for Les Voiles de Saint-Tropezracing, with 5 Bordeaux 60s taking part and, for the third consecutive year, for the CNB Day Sail organised by the Bordeaux boatbuilding yard during the event’s lay day.

Once again this year, the owners of CNB yachts of all sizes, all nationalities (French, German, Belgian, Italian, Swiss, British) and all generations responded to the boatbuilding yard’s invitation, with 13 boats present, comprising 3 one-off, 5 CNB 76s and 5 Bordeaux 60s: a record attendance since the inauguration of the CNB Day Sail.

In the French Riviera’s bright sunshine and with winds of 10 to 15 knots, the 13 boats competed against each other on the Nioulargue course, named after a historic buoy for yacht racing and the former name of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez. It was undoubtedly the best day of the week for sailing in the beautiful bay of Saint-Tropez!The CNB 82 Simeron won the race in the over 70-foot category, sharing the podium with the CNB 76s Malaïka and Wink.  Then came the CNB 76sBele, J Six and Leo, closely followed by the CNB 77 Aloha. The Bordeaux 60s were not to be outdone, with Kismet and Althane 1stand 2nd in the under 70-foot category, but also 3rd and 4th overall. Tupai(Bordeaux 60), Nina (Bordeaux 60), Vaïnato (CNB 64) and Sookie B(Bordeaux 60) followed on.

After all this excitement, a cocktail party was held at the Hôtel de Paris. An excellent opportunity for our 130 members of the CNB family to “relive the rally” in a convivial atmosphere.
