Porto Cervo’s glistening waters play host to the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta 2015
The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and Boat International Media are preparing to welcome an exceptional fleet of sailing yachts for the eighth edition of the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, taking place 2 – 6 June.
The event has fast become a popular fixture on the Mediterranean racing circuit. A diverse fleet of competitors represent the cream of international superyacht design and construction, hailing from some of the world’s leading shipyards including Fitzroy Yachts, Nautor Swan, Oyster Yachts, Perini Navi, Vitters, Wally and Southern Wind Shipyard.
Expertly organised by the YCCS Race Committee under Principal Race Officer Peter Craig, 4 days of racing will take place against the stunning backdrop of the La Maddalena archipelago. Participants include Ganesha,the recent victor at the Dubois Cup, the 45m Wally-built Saudade, and Marie, the largest yacht in the fleet at 55 metres. In addition to the regatta fleet, VIP guests of the event will have the opportunity to watch the racing from the comfort of the host yacht, Admiral’s 24m luxury sailing yacht Gigreca and the Luxi33, a brand new tender from Cantiere Savona.

In addition to the thrilling action out on the water, participants can look forward to a first-class social programme centred around the YCCS Clubhouse in Porto Cervo Marina. All guests and crew will come together on the first evening for the Welcome Cocktail Party set on the YCCS terrace, and Loro Piana will host an Owner’s Dinner on Wednesday providing a fabulous menu prepared by three Michelin-starred chef Massimiliano Alajmo, and internationally acclaimed singer and songwriter Delta Goodrem will perform throughout the evening. A Belvedere Vodka themed cocktail competition is also taking place on the YCCS dock following the Pantaenius After Race drinks on Thursday. The programme concludes with a spectacular Sunset Party at Phi Beach with a chance to relax and dance under the stars.
