March 14th is the official day of 100-year Jubilee of the Russian Yachting Federation
The Russian Yacht Racing Union (RPGS- the predecessor of former USSR and actual Russian Yachting Federations) was established on March 14th of 1912. On this particular day Naval Minister admiral Ivan Grigorovich has had signed the Constitution of the new public organization.
The Russian Yacht Racing Union appeared as natural consequence of the IYRU foundation (1907) and on the base of Union of the Baltic Yacht Clubs which united several Sankt-Petersburg yacht clubs. The other reason was necessity of preparations toward the Olympic Games – 1912 (Stockholm, Sweden).
