GalacticaHeesen Yachts is proud to announce that on Friday May 9, 2014 Galactica Star, Heesen revolutionary 65m Fast Displacement Hull Form, garnished the most votes from Asia Boating Award panel of judges to win the prestigious ‘Best Yacht Design of the Year’ in their 10th Edition of the Awards.

The ceremony took place in Hong Kong at the spectacular Icon Hotel where Ms ZZ Phang from Pen Marine, Heesen Agent for Southeast Asia, received the award on behalf of the Owners of the yacht and Heesen shipyard.

Ms Phang comments: “Asia Boating Awards is the region’s most established and respected event of its kind. This year sees awards in 21 categories, showcasing Asian builders and international brands, as well as Asian regattas, marinas and yacht designers working in Asia. Galactica Star won the most prestigious award of all the 21 categories! I am truly honoured to have had the chance to receive this accolade on behalf of the Owners and the shipyard that built this magnificent vessel. It is now the seventh prize that Galactica Star has won and I am so proud to be part of this incredible success!”

Galactica Star’s revolutionary Fast Displacement Hull Form that is 30 per cent more efficient than any other ever tested, has been devised by van Oossanen Naval Architects in collaboration with Heesen in-house naval architects. Her distinctive exterior lines are by the ingenious pencil of Frank Laupman from Omega Architects while the striking, dramatic interior is by famous Bannenberg and Rowell design studio. A top speed of over 28 knots but using 20 per cent less fuel than conventional yachts, a range of 4.200 nautical miles at 14 knots are just some of the impressive figures that make this vessel an award-winning yacht!
