boot Düsseldorf 2017 under new management
A change to the management of boot Düsseldorf is being made in the
near future: Goetz-Ulf Jungmichel (48), who has been responsible for running the biggest and most important water sports trade fair in the world since 2009, will be leaving Messe Düsseldorf at the end of February 2016 to go to Hamburg. On 1. March 2016, Jungmichel is taking over the position of Director General Secretary of the German Sailing Association there, so that he will continue to be associated with boot Düsseldorf. His
successor on the boot bridge will be the experienced trade fair manager
Petros Michelidakis (54), who – among other assignments – has been
working successfully for Messe Düsseldorf for years now in the foreign
representatives network with responsibility for Greece. The two trade fair
managers and their team, under the Jungmichel’s leadership, are already
operating side by side to make sure that boot Düsseldorf 2016 is a
success and that the transition goes smoothly. Messe Düsseldorf
Managing Director Matthias Dornscheidt: “The new boot manager knows
us inside out and is familiar with boot as well as the trade fair and sales
management system. He will be contributing plenty of new ideas and will
make sure that boot continues to perform excellently in future as well.”
Petros Michelidakis is Greek and spent his earliest childhood and teenage
years in Germany. After he finished his education, he moved to Greece,
where he started off as sales manager for a German forwarding company.
He became acquainted with the international trade fair business via
Centrale Marketinggesellschaft der deutschen Agrarwirtschaft (CMA),
where Michelidakis took over responsibility for management of the Athens
office in 1991, covering the markets in Greece, the Middle East, Cyprus
and Turkey. In 2007, he moved to Italy, where he was responsible for Italy
and Malta at the CMA office in Milan. Since 2011 and until 2015,
Michelidakis has been responsible for the interests of Messe Düsseldorf in
Greece and Cyprus as foreign representative.
“I have been interested in water sports basically since I was born. We Greeks love the water and all sports activities that take place in and on the water”, explains Michelidakis. He is an enthusiastic sailor, who is now
looking forward to being able to turn this passion into a career as Director of boot Düsseldorf with the motto “Experience 360° water sports”.
