Helsinki Boat-Afloat Show
Helsinki Boat-Afloat Show presents the full spectrum of boating in Lauttasaari in August
Finnish Marine Industries Federation Finnboat is organizing the 44th edition of Helsinki Boat-Afloat Show as usual from 19 to 22 August 2021 in HSK’s boat club harbour in Lauttasaari. The popularity of boating is at its peak and event arrangements have progressed at a rapid pace.
In recent years, the Helsinki Boat-Afloat Show has grown from a boat show to a summer event for the whole family, providing all day enjoyment with family and friends. The COVID-19 era has raised the popularity of boating to an exceptionally high level and this is also reflected in the exhibition.
Safety is not compromised during this exceptional period
The arrangements for the event are made within the framework of section 58 c of the Communicable Diseases Act, the principles of the Responsible Events by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the guidelines of the Regional State Administrative Agency. Event guests can, for example, receive a mask and disposable gloves for the duration of the visit. It is also possible to clean one’s hands at several points.
“During the two COVID-19 years, we have safely carried out already three outdoor events, so the arrangements are carried out with solid experience. The more than two-hectare seaside area offers truly ample space for a safe outdoor event. On the harbour, the fresh sea breeze takes care of the ventilation, but we naturally hope that people stay home if they are ill”, says Jarkko Pajusalo, CEO of Finnboat.
Comprehensive boat selection, activities on water and boat testing
“An in-water boat show offers something for everyone enjoying the water element. There is a wide selection of the favourite motorboats, but the exhibition is also a unique event in Finland to see a selection of new sailboats in water and ready for sailing. The fishing dock presents boats equipped for recreational fishing and the latest novelties in fishing. The boat market has had an interesting development this year due to the exceptionally strong demand and the changes in the import and distribution channels of several boat brands. Therefore, in Helsinki’s UIVA boat show you can also get acquainted with boat brands that have not been seen in Finland for a long time or even ever”, Pajusalo continues.
The Helsinki Boat Afloat Show offers a unique opportunity in Finland to test boats during the show days. Finland’s widest selection of boats will be available for trial in the afternoon of Friday 20 August, when several exhibitors offer exhibition boats for the public to test drive: this is the most comprehensive test opportunity for boat brands and models anywhere in Finland. The boat show organiser recommends to test the boats together with one’s family or with the group with whom one is visiting the event.
Seeing, experiencing and activities for the whole family
This year’s special themes are the protection of the Baltic Sea and electric propulsion solutions. Save the Baltic Sea award will be presented on the opening day of UIVA, and there will be plenty of presentations on the program about electric propulsion solutions to various uses. As usual, the Helsinki Boat-Afloat Show also features performances from the seven seas, and there is, among others, Super Happy Sailor Ari Huusela to tell about his sailing around the world in Vendée Globe race.
As usual, the exhibition area has a varied program, test runs and various shows and performances for the whole family. While enjoying the program, one can enjoy tasty food in the central square restaurant and street food trucks.
